Weight loss tip #6 - Find Motivation for Weight Loss!!
Motivation is critical to weight loss! You have to ask yourself "Why do I want to lose weight"? What do I want to look like when I'm at my goal? What will i look like ten pounds from now? Do i want to be more attractive? Do I want to be more healthy? Do I want to wear cuter clothes??
Writing these things down can be very helpful and you can refer to them when you are struggling. A big event like a Vacation, a Wedding or Reunion can be great motivators. If you have no motivators like that, you need to come up with one. For instance.... Set small goals and reward yourself when you get there. I mean it! So I make small goals like five pounds at a time
Once I lose the five I buy myself something small like a new lipgloss or a new cute coffee mug. Fifteen pounds I'll treat myself to a manicure or something like that. Anything to keep things fun and rewarding! If you have no motivation then weight loss is not going to be easy. Motivation makes things so much easier!! For me, I'm now down 160 pounds and honestly I started off motivated and then after a while it just became a habit. Now what I will do is buy cute jeans in a smaller size and hang them on my bedroom door and everyday I am reminded to stay on track! So find your motivation and get started!!!

Weight Loss Tip - Snacking at Night
I don't think I know anyone that doesn't like to snack at night... It's like once it gets dark out something takes over us and says "you must eat something sweet, crunchy, salty or comforting!" This is a problem for MOST people. They are fine during the day and then at night they end up ruining their entire days work! So what do we do?? Get lots of snacks that are low points or low calories and have them on hand. If they come in a large bag break that bag up and use your own ziplock bags and make single portions of them. NEVER eat chips right out of the bag. I remember a time when I would eat chips out of the bag and count them. They serving size was about 15 chips. I think I had 30 chips but some pieces were broken and I certainly couldn't count that as a chip right? So... don't let that happen to you. Always measure out all of your snacks in portioned sized bags.
One thing that I LOVE for a snack is Vitatops. If you haven't had them yet you are definitely missing out! They are SO GOOD. I love their "Deep Chocolate" flavor and their Fudgy Peanut Butter chip ones. They are actually good for you as they have fiber and protein and only 100 calories per muffin top. I probably have one of those a day! They really help me at night to curb cravings and keep me on track. They have little chocolate morsals on the top of them and I can't even say enough about them. They are fabulous! You can find them at a lot of grocery stores like Giant, Pathmark, Acme and I've seen them at Target. You can also find the link on this blog.
Some other great snacks for night time are Sugar Free Jello, Sugar Free Pudding, Fruit, Pretzels, Popcorn, Fiber One Bars, Frozen Grapes (I always put mine in the freezer because they take longer to eat and they taste a little sweeter when they start to thaw). Cereal is also a good night time snack. I get the yoplait light yogurt and add about a quarter cup of Special K Strawberry Cereal to it and its very satisfying.
Another tip for night time snacking is to make your own sign that you can put on the counter that says "Kitchen is Closed".
When you go in there to get a snack you will notice your sign and think twice about it! So snack, but once your done for the day the kitchen is CLOSED for eating!

Weight Loss Tip #4 - Eating Out at Restaurants
Everyone goes out to Dinner every once in a while whether it's just a break during the week, to celebrate a Birthday, Anniversary etc. The most important thing to do is to PLAN AHEAD. If you don't plan ahead most likely you will end up overeating and worried about what the scale will show. For instance, one of my Favorite Restaurants is Outback Steakhouse. When I go there I have a plan. I normally get their Chicken on the Barbie and eat half the portion (they give you a lot). I ALWAYS ask for no butter on anything and they are always so nice about customizing anything! I also get the house salad and a side of their mixed vegetables. I ALWAYS take my own butter which is "I can't Believe it's not butter spray" and use it on the veggie side. Do I care if others are looking and wondering why I brought my own spray butter? The simple answer is "No"... Anything that helps me to stay on my program is what I'm going to do!!! Sometimes I will take my own salad dressing as well.. it depends on where I'm going. Outback has a YUMMY tango tomato dressing that is low in calories as well. So when I leave I feel happy and satisfied just like everyone else but I'm still staying on my program.
One night I went out to dinner and someone ordered desserts and ordered me one as well... I'm not really sure why they ordered it for me but when it got to the table I knew I didn't want to spend any more points or calories for the day and I did not want to eat it. I didn't even know how many calories were in this big piece of Chocolate cake that had a thick layer of icing! So... I kept thinking about it like every 5 minutes. Should I eat it? Should I not eat it? Is it really that many calories? I decided it was not worth it and as I sat there it kept calling me!!! What did I do? I took a salt shaker and poured TONS of salt all over it!!! I surely wasn't going to eat it now!! As I said..... no matter what you have to do to stay focused is what is going to get you to your goal as crazy as it sounds!
With all the smartphones and different ways for us to access the internet on the go we can look up calories and nutrition information for just about anything!! Use your phone while waiting for the waiter or waitress to figure out what you are going to order if you don't already have a plan! Make your plan work for you!!!

Weight Loss Tip # 3 - Stay Fuller Longer by volumizing!!!
I have to say one of my biggest helpers was volumizing all my meals. What does volumizing mean? It means plumping up your meals with low calorie foods to help you feel satisfied for a longer period of time. One way to volumize for instance is if you are eating a Dinner entree by Weight watchers or Lean Cuisine or whatever one you choose you can DOUBLE the portion by adding veggies. Weight Watchers has a Broccoli Alfredo that I love and what I do is add a whole cup of Broccoli after cooking the meal in the microwave.
Another way to volumize is to add Vegetables to your meal. Say your having a Hamburger and you really don't want to add any more points to your meal. Have the Hamburger and add a large side of your favorite vegetable like carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. You can add salsa or a tablespoon of Parmesan Cheese to the vegetables to boost the flavor! Most Parmesan Cheese I've found is only around 20 calories or so. My favorite brand is Kraft.
Steamfresh veggies are always a good choice because you can throw them in the microwave and they are done in minutes. They have green beans, brocolli, seasoned cauliflower, carrots, spinach and I think they even have asparagus!
When I make or eat a store bought pizza I cut up thin slices of tomato and add those and green peppers or onions to the toppings to make it much more filling and it tastes great too!
So fill up on veggies and stay fuller and satisfied longer!

Weight Loss Tip - Have a bad day? Eat Too Much? A Cheat? Get BACK on Track !
No one is perfect on any Weight Loss or Diet plan! Everyone makes mistakes and messes up! If your Human this will happen to you.. So... they key that has helped me lose over 100 pounds is to get back on track immediately!!!
Don't say "Oh I messed up the whole day now I might as well keep eating" For example... I went to a cookout and planned on staying on my program but there were so many delicious desserts, treats, macaroni salads, you name it, it was there... So I started off with a small plate of just a few things I liked. I felt satisfied but I WANTED more... so I went back and just started eating whatever I wanted. Macaroni and Cheese, Baked Beans, Cheesecake, and I ate it so fast I don't even remember what else.
Then once I was stuffed it's like I woke up and said "oh no what have I done???!!?" Then I felt upset and fat because I was eating like a Pig on Wheels!! Of course the Cookout was over and my Mom gave me a few plates of leftovers to take home... Hours later I'm home and I started thinking about the extra food in my refrigerator. It was calling me!!! I was no longer stuffed and I thought.. hmmm I already cheated today so I might as well go eat those leftovers before the day is over. I went down to the fridge opened the door and looked at the food and realized "I am only hurting myself if I eat this.. I've already consumed probably 2000 calories more than I should have..
Why do I want to add more? I then realized I was not helping myself by eating more but I was hurting myself. If you look at it that way it will help you in those moments where you want to over eat!
I took the leftover food (and don't tell my Mom) but I threw it all in the trash! After I threw it away I felt proud and accomplished.
I know it was a waste of food but why have it sitting there if it's going to call me every 5 minutes?? If I was strong enough to just say no that would have been one thing but "that day" in particular I just wasn't...I got back ON TRACK, grabbed some fruit and went to bed. When I got up the next morning I weighed myself and I was only up 1 pound! By the next next that pound was GONE plus a few ounces! Such a HUGE tip for anyone who is trying to lose weight is to GET BACK ON TRACK and your weight loss will continue!! Please comment if you've been there too! Did something similar happen to you? What did you do? Plan what you will do next time!!!

Weight Loss Tip #1 Track your Food!!
A lot of people have been asking me for Weight Loss Tips... So I thought I would share one of my tips that keeps me on track.... basically if you BITE it WRITE IT... Meaning track everything that you eat. It's not as difficult as it sounds. Get a cute little book to write your daily food log in or use an online application that easily finds food and tracks them. I usually track everything on my iphone but if you don't have time at the moment to write something down take a picture of it!! You can easily go back later and add it. In the past when I didn't track my intake I would get to the scale and get upset because I hadn't lost anything but really I was eating more than I thought I was. Once I started tracking everything I noticed a huge difference in my Weight Loss. I know sometimes I forget what I ate during the day if I don't track it somewhere... Do you remember what you ate yesterday?? If you want to be successful at losing weight you must track, track, track! I am on Weight Watchers Points Plus and the Fruit on the Program is Free however; I still track it! If you run into a problem down the road where you find your not losing you can look back at your Journal or online application and see what you may have changed or maybe your eating too much fruit. Fruit is SO good for you but it does have calories and can add up... So my tip for today is... Track everything you eat... you will definitely see a difference!!
